Carnival 2-Day Cruises

Carnival Cruise Lines have shorter cruises available that last from 2 to 5 days. They run the largest short cruise program in the cruise industry. You can take a short cruise on one of 12 ships from 12 North American home ports. A short cruise gives passengers a good idea of what cruising is about so they like it. Carnival has a short New York Cruise to know where you can enjoy excellent service in a relaxing atmosphere. You'll be back to the New York City Port in a few days.

A Carnival 2 day cruise is perfect if you don't have time to take a longer cruise. This means you can take a short cruise over the weekend and be home or back at work by Monday. Smelling the sea air, eating fantastic food and watching great entertainment for two days is a nice way to refresh yourself from the routine of every day life. You can exercise at state-of-the-art fitness facilities, go swimming in the pool or get pampered at the spa.

Another benefit of taking a Carnival 2 day cruise is the low cost. You may have to pay for extra things like spa treatments, games or shore excursions. Carnival has an affordable short cruise that leaves from Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida. There's also a Carnival cruise that departs from Long Beach, California and heads to Ensenada, Mexico. Always, plan a head of time when you schedule a short cruise. Ask about the different kinds of ships. You wouldn't want to go on a ship with partiers if your family is with you or you want to relax.

Carnival 2-Day Cruises

Sometimes, a Carnival 2 day cruise can take you to the same worldwide destinations as the 17 day cruises. You can travel to New England, Alaska, Europe, Caribbean and other places. The Carnival Miracle has short cruises from places like to New York to the Caribbean. On one of these cruise you can experience a little of the things that offered on a longer cruise. There's many international cuisines and the option of made to order at the Carnival Miracle Lido Restaurant. You can dine in the Carnival Miracle Bacchus dining room. Other highlights on this ship are shows at the Phantom, Mad Hatter's Ball, a sing along at Sam's piano bar and Raven Library and Internet Cafe.

Book a Carnival 2 day cruise early since these types of cruises are popular and fill up quickly. Generally the times of year that short cruises are offered are in the spring and summer. Dress is mainly casual for short cruises but you may have to dress formal for the dining room. If you're a regular cruiser, you may want to take a short cruise between longer cruises. If you're a new cruiser, then you may be able to see one or two destinations on a mini or short cruise. You won't need to worry about lots of luggage or being away to long. It's best not to try to do too many things on a short cruise so you don't become overwhelmed.

Smart Buyer's Guide to Residential Cruise Ships

Residential ships are a way to share expenses instead of owning your own private yacht. The concept seems reasonable, but there is some price gouging going on in the business.

The ship that started the current spate of luxury residential homes aboard cruise ships was "The World," operated and managed by ResidenSea. All the residences onboard "The World" are already sold-out, but occasionally an owner puts one up for sale. If you have to ask the price, you probably cannot afford it.

Residential Cruise Line, LTD. Is offering 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 624 sq.ft. apartments on "The Magellan" for a mere ,160,000. A 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath, 4334 sq.ft. unit will set you back ,460,000 to buy and an annual maintenance fee of 2,000.

Smart Buyer's Guide to Residential Cruise Ships

Not to be outdone, The Four Seasons Ocean Residences has units running from .75 million to million, and sizes range from 797 square feet for a 1-bedroom unit to 7,860 square feet for a 4-bedroom unit.

The "Orphalese" plans to launch in 2008. They are offering 200 permanent residences ranging from the 1,000-square-feet, 2-bedroom Pegasus Estate to the 3,700-square-feet, 5-bedroom Penthouse, which are available for full ownership. The 2-bedrooms start at .8 million with ,000 in annual fees, while penthouses start at million with ,000 in annual fees.

Voyage Partners has a ship under construction but has not announced pricing yet. When they do, the prices will probably fall in the range of the others in this short list of new residential cruise ships.
Another ship of this caliber is in the planning stages, it is to be named "Everest" and will be 656' in length if or when it is built. It is to intended have 17 apartments and an owners private penthouse suite on the top deck.

"The Orphalese" is the best bargain of the bunch, and I think it is the highest quality ship too. "The Orphalese" is being built at the Aker Shipyards in Finland by the same builders who have recently built the biggest and best mega cruise ships in the world, including the largest of all cruise ships "The Freedom of the Seas" operated by Royal Caribbean. Also the management of "The Orphalese" seems to be practical. There will also be 265 guest suites available on the ship for cruise passengers who do not own residences.

Using the best of the bunch "The Orphalese" as a benchmark, let's see how it stacks up against real world prices.

New cruise ships can be built for around 0 million. The most expensive new mega cruise ships cost about 0 million to build.

All the current prices of residences onboard cruise ships are exorbitant. Rich people apparently enjoy squandering their money. It must be a status thing to waste more money than the Joneses. For those who prefer to not waste money trying to outspend the Joneses, there is a better way.

Occasionally a cruise line may have a new ship under construction and run into financial difficulties. They may be forced to abandon the construction project, and an unfinished ship may sit idle in a shipyard. There are such ships available now. One in particular is as follows:

725' 725ft./221m UNFINISHED 12 DECK PASSENGER VESSEL

Year: 1990

Current Price: US$ 15,000,000

Located in Mediterranean

Hull Material: Steel

Engine/Fuel Type: Twin Diesel

725ft./221m Unfinished 12 deck Passenger Vessel

Steel hull & superstructure built in Poland in 1990, length extended by 50m/164ft. in 1995 in Greece for the original owner who went bankrupt.. New owner not interested in completing the 13,000 ton (lightship) cruise vessel and it is now at the stage where in can be completed by our competent ship builders in record time as per Buyer's specific requirements. Ideal also as a floating condominium project or ro-pax. The price "as is, where is" with engines, generators and other equipment on-board (see list below) is US Million, or can be completed turn-key in 20 months for US0,000,000. Lying in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The above listed "turn-key" price of 0 million is based on finishing the ship at the Elefsina Shipyard in Greece. That would not be a wise thing to do with this ship. Greek shipyards get very few new construction projects these days, and for good reason. The trade unionists in Greece are doing a very good job of improving pay, benefits, and working conditions of shipyard workers in Greece. Unfortunately they also slow down the work, and drive up the costs.

The asking price for this ship is less than the price for one large apartment on "The Magellan." The asking price and selling price are two different prices. This ship could probably be bought for about 11 million dollars. It would be foolish to finish this ship in a Greek union shipyard. It can be economically towed over to the nearby shipyards in Tuzla, Turkey. The ship can be finished there quicker, and for about half the price and with better craftsmanship. This ship could be bought and finished to a high standard equal to "The Orphalese" for a total cost of much less than 100 million dollars (maybe even as low as 60 million). It can be finished to order, with each residential unit customized to suit its owner(s). The finished product would be a brand new completely modern ship with luxury homes onboard which would be at least as good or better than any on the market.

That still seems like a big chunk of change. But this is a big ship and it would easily accommodate 200 luxury residential units and an additional 200 or so conventional cruise cabins like "The Orphalese." The average cost of the residential units would be less than 0,000. That would mean that the smaller residential units would cost much less than the average price. Also, with an additional two hundred (plus) conventional cruise cabins, the cabin owners could recoup much of the operating costs, and thus virtually eliminate the "maintenance fees" for themselves. The expense to owners can be less than 10% of the going rates if the buyers did not need to pay some slick promoters and salesmen, but just bought the ship directly themselves sharing the actual costs by dividing the ship ownership among the buyers. Why would anyone want to pay ten times as much money to buy, and much higher maintenance fees for a similar shipboard residential unit? The only reason I can think of is to impress others with how much money they can afford to throw away.

Used cruise ships are an even bigger bargain. Look at the specs for the following unfinished conversion ship for sale:

UNFINISHED YACHT FOR SALE

OWNERS PRICE USD1 MILLION

COMPLETE SPECIFICATIONS, GA AND EQUIPMENT LIST AVAILABLE

GREEK FLAG

BUILT ROMANIA / 1988

LAST IN DRY DOCK 1997

DIMENSIONS 116.40 X 14.20 X 5.20 METERS DRAFT

GRT/NRT 3430/2000

23 KNOTS INTENDED

HELIPORT INTENDED

ACCOMMODATIONS INTENDED FOR 81 GUESTS

CREW FACILITIES INTENDED FOR 93 MEMBERS

Again the asking price is subject to negotiation. Used ships can be refurbished to look practically new, and can be brought up to international safety standards (SOLAS). There are shipyards around the world that can do good quality work at even lower cost than the shipyards in Tuzla, Turkey. If a ship is currently lying in Greece (as many are), then Tuzla is the best place to tow it for major shipyard work. The "SE" shipyards in the Black Sea port of Nikolaev, Ukraine offers the best value for the money in that part of the world. The bottom line is that smart shoppers can get good deals, even on lavish purchases such as a luxury residential home aboard a cruise ship. I maintain a list of those who have expressed an interest. The list is confidential and will not be shared for any marketing purposes. The purpose of maintaining the list is to facilitate joint ownership directly between buyers without any middlemen or promoters involved.

Cruise Travel

Cruising is a spectacular way of sea-faring. Overseas travel experience in itself is overwhelming thrilling. However over the years, the whole grounded sightseeing is beginning to wear off and options are being demanded. Cruise travel gives us a break from the land-based vacations.

Cruise travel offers comforts of soft luxury such as restaurants, lounge bars, spas, swimming pool, Jacuzzis, salons, Gyms, libraries, shopping centers and casinos. Almost every morning there's another coastal delight to experience which subsequently frames in one's memory.

South East Asia - Singapore and Hong Kong are the chief ports of call on the South-East Asian cruising circuit. Cruise travel offers varying durations that take you to destinations like Thailand and Malaysia as well as more exotic ones namely Vietnam.

Cruise Travel

The departures for cruises travel can also be from Singapore and Hong Kong and charts out a course that includes China, Korea and Japan.

Ideally suited for day excursions, Singapore is one of the world's easiest cities to navigate and offers tourists spots like the Jurong Bird Park, the Opera house and Sentosa Islands.

Vietnam's Halong bay, a popular stop for South-East Asian cruises is hailed for its heritage site. Its landscape has inspired Oriental art over the years and its life-sized splendor regularly halts cruises along their course. Phuket in Thailand needs little to say for the fact that the number and nature of shore excursions create dilemmas for cruisers, many choosing to finish up here.

Europe - There are two distinct cruising circuits for different climate and cultural zones. The Mediterranean is sultrier with white beaches paving the coast and turquoise water inviting a plunge.

While Italy is the unmistakable hub for the Mediterranean cruises, destinations like Spain, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Croatia, Malta and Tunisia come together to create a diverse demographic experience. The Baltics, closer to the Pole, is another outdoor spectacle altogether-glacier with polar, whales following on for a ride and gorgeous isolated fiords and a hop-of for drives along the wind swept coastal highways.

North America - Cruise travel to the Caribbean islands as well as upwards towards the North Pole to view the glaciers and whales. Cruising these azure, fun-infested waters is the highlight of this cruise. Some of the notable destinations that cruisers must include in their circuit range from Montego Bay in Jamaica, Nassau in Bahamas and Acapulco in Mexico.

Cruises have the capacity of 980 cabins that can accommodate 1960 guests, a slew of restaurants, swimming pool, amphitheater, casinos, night clubs, cinema and jogging tracks.

Affordable Honeymoon Cruises

When people start to think about cruising for a honeymoon, there is always the misconception that this type of honeymoon has to necessarily be expensive. Yes, some years ago cruising was considered a luxury type of travel, but as years have passed (and with the birth of competition), the prices have lowered down, and now it is possible to find affordable honeymoon cruises.

To start, it all depends on what is included on the honeymoon cruise. Of course, the more "benefits" you get, the higher the price will go up compared to a standard vacation. So, you can aim for a custom package that only includes special details, and not so much more expensive activities like shows, and free passes to spas for example. You have to balance well what you want, because in the end I guess you will still want your honeymoon to include something special.

If you still want to enjoy every benefit and feature of a honeymoon cruise package, here's a cool way to do so. Choose a honeymoon cruise registry. Nowadays some companies are offering this type of service that lets you ease the expenses of a honeymoon cruise thanks to the aid of friends and family. Isn't that great? The registry is handled by cruise companies that will help you every step of the way.

Affordable Honeymoon Cruises

There is yet another way to find an affordable honeymoon cruise, and that is by taking a last minute cruise. Companies offer last minute prices to fill every cabin and avoid losing money. This method is not recommended for a honeymoon. But hey, if you are tight on money, everything could serve you right? It is good to keep in mind also that you can request for a honeymoon package when boarding the ship. This can be done also when taking a last minute cruise.

Remember that planning your expenses and knowing what you will truly enjoy is another way of saving money. You can find online many tips to save money on cruises and some pretty affordable honeymoon cruise deals.

How Cruise Ships Make Fresh Water

Modern cruise ships have an insatiable thirst for fresh water. Some of today's biggest cruise ships, like the Grand Princess, use more than 260,000 gallons of fresh water every day. Rather than carry all this water from the embarkation port, or rely on local ports of call, the newest state-of-the-art cruise ships transform salty sea water into fresh drinking water by a process known as desalination.

The desalination process on a cruise ship uses either flash evaporators or osmosis. Flash evaporators boil sea water and re-condense the steam vapor, producing fresh drinking water. This method is similar to the natural water cycle, where sea water is heated by the sun, rises as steam to form clouds, and then falls back to earth as rain. The second method, osmosis, filters sea water through a fine membrane to separate pure water from salt and other minerals. Cruise ships do not desalinate water near ports or close to land, because coastal waters are the most contaminated.

Luxury Cruising

After desalination, the water is passed through a mineralization plant, which adds minerals. This is necessary because the healthy minerals naturally found in drinking water have been removed by desalination. At this stage, the water is also checked for impurities, sanitized, and the pH is corrected. The water is then sent to massive storage tanks on board the cruise ship. On the Grand Princess, for example, these storage tanks hold up to 500,000 gallons of fresh water.

How Cruise Ships Make Fresh Water

Next, the water is routed to hot and cold systems. Miles of distribution pipe move the water around the cruise ship.

After the water is delivered through a sink or shower, and used by cruise ship passengers or crew, it must be treated again before it can be discharged. All cruise ships must follow strict environmental laws in the treatment of waste water. Even after treatment, the water is not immediately released, but is held in special storage tanks when the ship is close to land, in port, or other sensitive environments.

It's a complex process, but necessary in order to ensure the health of cruise ship passengers and the natural environment.

Something to think about next time you choose a cruise

Barbados - The Six Best Beaches in Barbados

By law, all beaches in Barbados are open to the public from the high-water mark down to the sea. Not a one is off-limits to anyone. This is great if you like to star gaze; Barbados beaches are a favorite getaway for celebrities the world over. Celebrity or not, everyone who visits marvels at Barbados' pink-white beaches, which are made of coral reefs that have been ground into a very fine powder by the waves of the ocean.

"Favorite beaches" are not automatically those graced by the placid waters of the Caribbean Sea. It's true that many of us like the "zen" of the calm. But some of us crave the exciting rough and tumble of the Atlantic Ocean.

Luxury Cruising

In its 70 miles of beaches, Barbados offers both. The water lapping the beaches of the west coast, aka our "Platinum Coast," is the Caribbean Sea, which is as calm as a lake. The Atlantic Ocean on the east coast serves up world-class surfers' waves; it's fun to sit on the beach at the "Soup Bowl" in Bathsheba on the east coast and watch surfers risk life and limb for a ride on the perfect wave.

Barbados - The Six Best Beaches in Barbados

The south coast offers a mixture of Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean waters - these waters are not calm but not tumultuous, either. The lively water and sugar-white sands make the south coast beaches a favorite for many of our visitors.

Any "best" list is a personal effort, and listing Barbados's best beaches is necessarily even more personal. There are so many to like, there could be any combination in any list. But here's a stab anyway.

1. Carlisle Bay. We start near the city, on a mile-long stretch of beach running the length of historic Carlisle Bay, from the Hilton at one end (called Needham's Point) to Bridgetown at the other. Actually, this beach is further divided into local sections like Yacht Club Beach, Burke's Beach, Browne's Beach and so on, but it's one dazzling expanse, beloved by many Barbadians.

2. Brandon's Beach. On the north side of the city, along the beginnings of the West Coast. Another long stretch of amazing white sand, nestled by calm, warm waters. Brandon's beach becomes Brighton Beach and then turns back into Brandon's again. But whatever you call it, it's a beauty.

3. Sandy Lane Beach. The centre of West Coast opulence. This a good place to hang out and watch the stars from the world-famous Sandy Lane Hotel come to luxuriate in the warm Caribbean Sea. Madonna, Pavarotti, Jagger, Cowell, Tiger Woods (who honeymooned there) - they've all been there, and they all come back. And no wonder - the beach is a pristine white, with water so clear you can see your toes wiggle.

4. Cattlewash Beach. Running for several miles along Barbados' rough east coast, Cattlewash beach absorbs the power of the Atlantic waves' first landfall after a journey of 3,000 miles. As a result, the surf is magnificent, pounding in day and night. The places to swim are little pools and secluded areas - other spots can be dangerous. Interestingly, the east coast beach is rough, coarse, brown sand.

5. Crane Beach. A marvelous sight from the towering perspective of the Crane Hotel, and a delight to swim at or stroll along. This is the south-east of the island, but the waves are broken by a long barrier reef, so the sea is safe and shallow. Accessible through the hotel property or via public road.

6. Accra Beach. Right in the action area of the South Coast. You'll often spy the super-star singer Rhianna here. She's a Barbados native and comes home often. And why wouldn't she choose Accra Beach? Accra is a half-mile of blazing white beach, with great body-surfing and swimming areas along it.

By now, for anyone who knows Barbados, my list is bound to have its supporters and its detractors. Truth is, there's probably not a bad beach anywhere on the island. So go ahead - explore them all, and make your own list of favorites!

The Perfect Gifts For Your Boat Lover

Looking for the just-right nautical gift for that sailor in your life? From a gift that is tropical/beach themed, or to the high end luxury nautical, it can be a tough call. What will be the perfect nautical gift for my husband/boyfriend/significant other?

If your sailor would rather spend a day on the water sailing or cruising on a nautical adventure - or just clanging about below deck in harbor installing a new GPS system or re splicing a worn anchor line - you might as well skip the pen 'n pencil set or that new lawn edger and go right for what stirs your sailor's soul.

Luxury Cruising

Maybe it's something as sexy ( to him ) as a new downrigger, a depth finder or Marine radio. Maybe a coffee table laminated over nautical charts and rope piping for your sun room. Either way, this is where you connect with, turn on, thrill, and please the sailor in your life.

The Perfect Gifts For Your Boat Lover

Simple guidelines for nautical gifts:

Decide whether to go with beach décor or something that says "pirate" and the sailing life.

Brass is almost always appropriate, like nautical lamps and nautical lanterns, or pretty much any type of nautical home décor. A working oil lantern or set of lanterns will be a big hit, the fuel they burn now is virtually smokeless and odor free, kerosene is a thing of the past.

If you have room, a set of colorful nautical flags always look good, a perfect gift for a boat owner of significant size would be a logbook and logbook cover. Teak logbook covers are beautiful and can be engraved with his boat name, his name and home port. A gift like this shows you care and he gets an ego massage seeing his name engraved. You will also be thought of every time he uses it.

Quality nautical clocks, ships bell clocks are always appreciated. This is a gift most men would not spend the money on for themselves, however we really love a quality clock, the clocks that chime with the ship's bell are very nice.

Skip the dopey captain's cap, unless it's at least 20 years old and has seen at least six dunkings. (Otherwise, it screams, "Hi, I'm a new boat owner, so don't get too close!")

So, enjoy your quest for the perfect nautical gift for your sailor, he will appreciate you taking the time and acknowledging his favorite pastime.

2011 Fashion Trends For Children's Clothing

2010 has been an interesting year for fashion. This is the year where the press criticized celebrity baby Suri Cruise for wearing expensive designer kid's clothing. This is the year where designer brands began to actively produce clothes for children-as there seems to be a market for expensive kid's clothing. This is the year where children and adults alike explored the potentials of fashion from another culture-with Japanese and Korean fashion being in the forefront of the kid's clothing and adult clothing fashion trends. And the year has not even ended!

So what can people expect for the year 2011? It's not too early to tell: after all, designers and clothing companies release their clothing lines early. The likes of Ducci and even lesser known brands such as Ouef Eco have already shown their 2011 designs, among many others. What prominent trends can be seen from these early kid's clothing releases?

Luxury Cruising

Perhaps the most prominent trend to surge for the year 2011 is the theme of practical luxury or elegance for kid's clothing. Again, this is a trend that probably stemmed from the "Suri Cruise effect," wherein children want to wear designer clothes and parents want to dress their children in design brands. However, the clothing companies are gunning for something appropriate for kids despite its designer-luxury trappings. These designer kid's clothing items will be comfortable and will steer away from styles that are inappropriate for the toddler and pre-teen set.

2011 Fashion Trends For Children's Clothing

Of course, don't expect these "practical luxuries" to be practically priced.

The eco-conscious theme will also become prominent in 2011, sipping its way from the adult runway to the kid's clothing industry. Expect kid's clothing pieces made from highly sustainable materials such as bamboo, organic cotton, and other similar fabrics. In short: frivolous is out, environmental trends are in.

Fashion pundits are already proclaiming the year 2011 as the year when the 80s rocker look returns. Expect this influence to become apparent in kid's clothing-or at least in teen and pre-teen clothing. Don't expect kid's clothing to incorporate the leather and the highly sexualized look of 80s rock, although many will see the disgruntled, mixed and matched styles that the 80s made popular.

Because of this, Japanese-inspired kid's clothing will become a bigger hit in 2011. This fashion aesthetic somewhat adheres to the concept of 80s fashion-clothes and accessories that shouldn't match but go well together anyway, the somewhat mature Victorian-inspired dresses, the exotic Lolita-styled dresses made innocent and child-like (and therefore safe yet cute).

For girl's fashion, expect dresses with flowing fabrics. This trend, which is more apparent in countries such as Australia and United Kingdom, is likely to be incorporated in kid's clothing-a far cry from the current trend of flesh showing for women's fashion. What not to expect in kid's clothing in 2011: velvet. Many fashion journalists are already seeing velvet as a major material in some of the biggest designs for next year-but it's unlikely that this material will enter the kid's clothing scene.

It goes without saying that the year 2011 is still several months away-anything can happen in the world of kid's clothing.

Choosing Dingy Davits For Your Boat

One of the pleasures of cruising is dropping anchor out at your preferred gunk hole and launching the dingy and taking in the sights of the area or visiting other vessels; it's a great way to meet new acquaintances. But if your dingy is not very accessible or hard to launch, you will not likely use it often.

All tenders require adequate storage. Towing is not always practical and can be dangerous in bad weather. The same goes for on deck storage; a big wind and you may lose it. But if properly setup your yacht with the proper davit system, your tender will offer carefree service.

Luxury Cruising

However before you select your davit system, you'll need to select the right tender for your boating needs. Do you prefer a rigid dingy or inflatable? Remember punctures are very common with inflatables? Where will it be used? On the high seas or inland waters? How big do you need her?

Choosing Dingy Davits For Your Boat

Many of the answers to storage locations and systems lie in how large it is and much your dingy weighs.

There are 4 standard davit systems ready to store a dinghy:

· clip-on, where the dingy lies on its side on the swim platform;
· stanchion mounts on the transom, the dingy hangs over the stern;
· rotating davit mounts on the decks; and
· hydraulic - powered lifts mounted to a swim platform to raise large dingies or personal water craft.

Clip-on davits are a great product. Weaver Davits, one of the lead marketers, are an economical selection for trawlers with swim platforms and small tenders and outboard motors up to 10 horsepower. But the outboard must be removed from the tender before hoisting out of the water. Most boaters have an outboard motor storage rack attached on the transom for easy access. Another worry is raising the tender from a horizontal position in the water to a standing position for storage. Weaver Davits are limited by the weight of the tender. I have the davit system on our trawler and I could not be more pleased. We can launch and recall the tender in less than 10 minutes.

Stanchion mounts are secured to the rails, deck or transom. Designed for heavy dinghy-engine setups, these davit systems come with universal riser arms for a custom fit to your yacht. Big dingies may call for optional support kits attached on the transom or swim platform. When properly installed, the tender rests horizontal from the stern of the boat. On these installations, the tender outboard motor can remain in place. On a negative side, the tender setup requires a fair amount of hand-operated labor to lift the dingy using 2 block and tackles. These are common setups on sailboats.

Rotating davits raise, rotate and place the dingy onto the foredeck or sundeck. If the deck can sustain the load, these systems can be directly mounted, or the supporting post may be based on a lower deck. Most setups are provided with an electric winch to mechanically lower and raise the tender. Dingies with large motors (15 horsepower or more) often combine a rotating davit on the transom with a cradle for the tender mounted on deck. The setups provide retrieving for the heaviest of tender/motor arrangements. On a down side, these arrangements may place the operator at heights that could be dangerous in rough waters. In addition, care must be made to keep the outboard motor from striking the mother ship as the tender is raised or lowered, breaking windows or damaging the gel coat.

Hydraulic - powered lifts have become popular on large boats to lift big dingies or personal water craft. Most are complicated and not easily owner installed. Prices for these davit systems increase as the lifting ability increases- the heavier the dinghy, the more high-priced the davit system. To use, the lifts are brought down into the water and the tender is driven onto the cradle. A negative feature is that these units may not work well in a following sea.

In most examples when purchasing a used boat, the dingy and davit system is already in place. You will just need to familiarize yourself with it to see if you like it. If you do not, there are other options for you.

Top Holiday Destinations For British Holiday Makers

8 hours on a plane is a day wasted but nowhere 2 hours away is warm enough or far enough for me to really feel like I'm on holiday. So, where I ask myself is the best holiday destination from London and other parts of UK for us Brits?

The ideal flight time for me is 4-5 hours and looking on the world map, there are a host of warm, luxurious and relaxing destinations within that flying time. Shame, none of the travel companies like Best at Travel, Kuoni, Virgin Holidays, Letsgo2 or Holiday Hypermarket ever consider that. You end up searching these sites for hours with a highly confused state of mind. Having been through this, I decided to post a little research for those facing the same dilemma as me.

Luxury Cruising

So, which are the best Holiday destinations for people flying from the UK?

Top Holiday Destinations For British Holiday Makers

This listing will help you find your next holiday.

First, where do us Brits go most on holiday? I went through some search records on Google and found the following:

Top Holiday Destinations (by number of travellers from UK every year)

1. Spain holidays Since Spain is the most popular holiday destination for us Brits with over a million searches a month, I've divided Spain into regions to fully calculate its popularity.

Majorca holidays - Majorca or Mallorca is heaven. I've been there myself. With a vibrant nightlife and amazing scenic views and beaches, this largest of all Spanish island tops Spanish holiday charts with over 300,000 monthly searches for Majorca alone. If you're looking for a party place or an opportunity to be in the quiet surrounded by nature, Majorca is your best bet. Tenerife holidays - Tenerife is the largest of the 7 canary Islands in the Atlantic ocean. Just off the coast of Morocco, Africa, this Spanish territory commands the status of one of the most popular tourist destinations around the world. As they say, the place where spring never ends, Tenerife is the highest point of Spain with its Mount Teide volcano. The temperature averages 20 degrees celcius throughout the year and is considered to be the best in the world by many. 320,000 searches online every month. Gran Canaria holidays - Also one of the seven canary islands, the Gran Canaria is the second largest and second most populated after Tenerife. Volcanic in nature, The Gran Canaria offers a unique natural experience, with fissure vents, different soil and vegetation. The Gran Canaria is famous for its family holidays and is full of well appointed resorts. 180,000 monthly searches. Ibiza holidays - Ibiza is a beautiful little Spanish island located in the Mediterranean sea that has become hugely popular as a holiday top spot in the last 35 years. What makes Ibiza special is the extended coast line of sandy beaches, a chilled out way of life and seclusion. As all Spanish holidays, Ibiza town will offer you a buzzing nightlife and for those looking for peace and quiet, there are plenty of resorts surrounded by nature and tranquility. 135,000 searches per month. Other notable Spanish holiday destinations - With a 100,000 British people searching for holiday packages in Benidorm, this is the 5th most popular Spanish holiday destination followed by Costa del Sol at 60,000 searches and Lanzarote (another beautiful canary island) with 55,000 searches. Recommended - Spain holidays

If you haven't yet experienced a Spanish holiday, you haven't yet been on your best holiday. Majorca alone gets 2.5 million British holiday makers a year and 2008 was a record high.

2. Cyprus holidays - Cyprus is the number 2 holiday destination for us Brits. On average, 400,000 of us search for Cyprus holidays online every month. Yes! Every Month! No wonder I've been to Cyprus twice myself. In Cyprus, most popular spots are Limassol and Paphos - Paphos is full of ancient sites as old as 4th century BC, lies in the southwest of Cyprus and is a world heritage site by UNESCO. Limassol is the capital of southern Cyprus and is a popular shopping destination.

3. Turkey holidays - With just under 400,000 searches on Google alone, Turkey is the third most visited holiday destination for British holiday makers. The ex-Ottoman empire with a taste of Asia within Europe, Turkey is a top holiday destination where you'll find snow-capped mountains and sunny beaches at a few hours' distance. Istanbul, the largest city is where we flock most to, to live the Sultan size life for a few relaxing days.

4. Greece holidays - Close on the heels of Turkey, Greece holidays are very popular amonst British people. With just under 400,000 searches online a month, we love Greece, especially the Island of Crete. Crete, as legend goes, was where the Greek God Zeus was born and is the present resting place of Greek Gods. The southern-most of all Greek islands, Crete is the meeting point of Africa, Asia and Europe. If you're looking for a busy, choc-a-block resort holiday, Greece is the place for you, where not UK holiday makers, but tourists from all over the world flck in great numbers.

5. Egypt holidays - Enter Africa - Egypt is our 5th most visited holiday destination and top-most in Africa. With 320,000 searches every month, we Brits get-away to Egypt often during the winter. The gorgeous clear waters of river Nile, 5000%2B years of history, tourist attractions like the pyramids and cities like the Sharm El Sheikh (the city of Peace) surrounded by the Red sea and Mount Sinai are top reasons for Egypt being a top holiday destination. I've been to Egypt twice and I'm in love with that place. People are friendly and forthcoming.

6. America Holidays

Las Vegas holidays - I would have imagined America to be much higher up in the list of our top holiday destinations, but the long plane journeys and shortage of natural beauty are two major reasons why most people visit the United States for its advancements, not untouched natural places. Las Vegas leads as one of USA's top holiday destinations. The city most popular for its casinos, gambling and high lifestyle attracts us Brits in large numbers every year. New York city breaks -The world's capital city as its popularly known is the centre of all action. The list of tourist attractions is longer than London's and if you're expecting to get away, beware, you're getting back into the mad rush. New York is a great weekend or short stay holiday destination if haven't seen the Statue of Liberty or Madison Square Gardens. Florida holidays - The sunshine state of the US - Fun doesn't end any time of the year in Florida. With 3 of the world's best amusement parks - Disneyland, Seaworld and Universal, Florida is also the world's amusement capital. Great place for family holidays.

7. Italy holidays - With 240,000 searches a month, Italy comes at number 6. Italy is made of two islands - Sicily and Sardinia. The mainland region of Italy is where holiday makers go in search of Roman empire history, leaning tower of Pisa, the Colosseums and Rome. Sicily is the largest Mediterranean island. Sardinia or Sardegna is a top holiday destination, famous for its natural beauty and beaches.

8. Caribbean Holidays - Caribbean Islands stand out as holiday destinations for the Americans (because of the proximity and short flights), but Europeans are not far behind. At a combined 200,000 searches per month from UK, The Caribbean is a fast growing holiday destination amongst us. The Caribbean refers to the Caribbean sea, islands in that sea and nearby coastal areas. Top holiday destinations within the Caribbean are Antigua holidays, St Lucia holidays, Jamaica holidays, Cuba holidays and Barbados holidays. Lying between North and South America, the Caribbean is famous for its holidays - from Golfing to sky-diving, fine dining to clubbing, there's nothing the Caribbean doesn't offer. That, at a time when Britain is freezing! No wonder, with recent media coverage, Caribbean holidays are busier than ever before.

9. Malta holidays - Coming back to Europe, Malta is a gorgeous island with an English connection. After gaining independence from United Kingdom in 1964, Malta developed itself as a top holiday destination. With English spoken widely, British people face no language barriers and holidays are even more fun. This Mediterranean island country offers some unique features like fishing villages, and a combination of Byzantine, Arab, Phoenician and St John Knights' culture, architecture and cuisine. 160,000 monthly searches.

10. Dubai holidays - The world's highest man made structure, world's first under water restaurant, world's first palm housing, world's longest shopping mall, world's first indoor ski system and world's highest tennis court are just the tip of the iceberg. Dubai - The city of the world's firsts opened its doors to the new world and we all visited in large number. Today, Dubai is the top holiday destination in the Middle East. With 150,000 searching for Dubai holidays every month, Dubai stands out amongst the 7 Emirates in UAE. With desert, beaches and mountains to offer, sunny holidays don;t get much better.

11. Maldives holidays - The paradise islands, as the 1 thousand two hundred fascinating Maldives islands are affectionately called, offer crystal clear waters and desert sands in the middle of Indian ocean. With 80 self sufficient islands cum resorts, you're never short of natural beauty, peace and tranquility. The top "get away from it all" holiday destination Maldives won't disappoint you. 120,000 curious British holiday makers search Maldives holidays every month.

12. Goa holidays - Further East, Goa is an English holiday maker's favourite Indian holiday destination. With Churches and Temples co-existing in this city they call "Tropical Paradise", you'll find miles of beautiful palm tree beaches and acres of windy paddy fields. Adding to its charm are old fortresses, wide roads and motor cycle hires. The Portuguese were defeated off Goa in 1961 by the Indian army and since then, Goa has grown into the most popular holiday destination within India. With an offshore casino, saturday markets by resident British people and a rock music culture, Goa will give you unforgettable memories. Or you might end up in Goa longer than you planned, like many others. 100,000 searches.

13. Thailand holidays - Further east from India, welcome to Thailand. Best time to visit is between June and October. The capital city of Thailand - Bangkok boats of some of the world's top 5 star hotels and is famous for its hospitality. Visit Thailand for a crash course in culture diversity and hospitality.100,000 searches.

14. Australia holidays - Melbourne is 22 hours and 30 minutes away from London. You better not plan a weekend break to Australia. A gorgeous country that holiday makers love, Australia is number 20 in this list only for its distance from the UK. Australia has everything from coral beaches, skyscrapers, nightlife, peace and tranquility, great standards of life, extreme sports - you name it. A great place for a long holiday, I rate Australia as one of my top holiday destinations and a must visit. Make sure you take out at least a couple of weeks to enjoy Australia fully.

15. Mauritius holidays - They say the beauty of Mauritius is its people. With clear waters, white sandy beaches and year-round holiday making, Mauritius is Asia's Spain. Tourists from India, China, Japan and other far east countries keep Mauritius abuzz the year round with traditional dances, customs and delicious seafood. Being close to mainland Africa, in the summer, Mauritius can be very hot and humid, and therefore the best time to visit is July to September (their winter). With British and French history, you won't face many language problems in this Indian ocean holiday destination. 70,000 searches.

16. Bali - The tiny yet perfect Indonesian island of Bali is the center of all action and one of Indonesia's top holiday destinations. Visit Bali for white sand beaches, awe-aspiring cliffs, nightlife and to submerge into the truly multicultural environment. 35,000 monthly searches for Bali holidays.

17. South Africa holidays - When you mention any part of Africa for holidays, wildlife plays an important role and South Africa is no different. South Africa is UK's top holiday destination in Africa for the British colonial connection. Amongst others, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Durban offer the best natural views and beaches. 30,000 monthly searches.

18. Hong Kong holidays - A few years ago, Hong Kong was a British territory. Now a part of China, Hong Kong is the most happening place in the far east. This majorly Buddhist city is a remarkable example of success of Capitalism and offers towering hotels, world's most modern luxuries and one of the most popular holiday destination within Hong Kong is Kowloon. For some peace, you can travel to the Sai Kung peninsula. 27,000 monthly searches.
